Bryan Cranston won four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Walter White in AMC’s Breaking Bad. In 2014 he won a Tony Award for his role as Lyndon B. Johnson in the bio-play All the Way. In film, Cranston has won two Screen Actors Guild Awards and received an Academy Award nomination for his leading role in Trumbo. Among his numerous television and film appearances, he was nominated for a Golden Globe and three Emmys for his portrayal of Hal in FOX’s Malcolm in the Middle.

Sam Rubin is the entertainment reporter for the KTLA Morning News. Rubin hosts the Emmy-nominated “Live from the Academy Awards,” syndicated nationally by Tribune Entertainment, “Sneaks,” a series of movie preview shows produced in conjunction with the Los Angeles Times, as well as a show for the Reelz Channel. He is a recipient of a Golden Mike Award for Best Entertainment Reporter from the Radio & Television News Association and, as part of the KTLA Morning News team, earned an Associated Press Television-Radio Award for Best News Broadcast.
In addition to his activities at KTLA, he also reports for Tribune’s WGN-TV in Chicago. Nationally, Rubin provides reports for “On Air With Ryan Seacrest,” “Show Buzz,” and CNN. On the radio, Rubin reports for Los Angeles’ KNX-AM. Rubin has been previously at Live Talks Los Angeles interviewing Alan Cumming, Garry Marshall, Terry Gilliam and Aasif Mandvi.

Former Vice President Al Gore spends the majority of his time as the chairman of The Climate Reality Project, a nonprofit devoted to solving the climate crisis. He is the co-recipient, with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, for “informing the world of the dangers posed by climate change.”
Gore was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1976, 1978, 1980, and 1982 and to the U.S. Senate in 1984 and 1990. He was inaugurated as the 45th vice president of the United States on January 20, 1993, and served eight years. Gore is the cofounder and chairman of Generation Investment Management. He is a senior partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and a member of Apple Inc.’s board of directors.

Eric Garcetti is the 42nd Mayor of Los Angeles. His “back to basics” agenda is focused on job creation and solving everyday problems for L.A. residents.
Garcetti was elected four times by his peers to serve as President of the Los Angeles City Council from 2006 to 2012. From 2001 until taking office as Mayor, he served as the Councilmember representing the 13th District which includes Hollywood, Echo Park, Silver Lake, and Atwater Village — all of which were dramatically revitalized under Garcetti’s leadership.
Garcetti was raised in the San Fernando Valley and earned his B.A. and M.A. from Columbia University. He studied as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford and the London School of Economics and taught at Occidental College and USC. A fourth generation Angeleno, he and his wife, Amy Elaine Wakeland, have a young daughter. He is a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy reserve and is an avid jazz pianist and photographer.

Senator Al Franken has represented Minnesota in the United States Senate since 2009. He was first elected in 2008 and re-elected in 2014.

He’s been married to his wife, Franni, for 41 years-many of them happy. They have two children, Thomasin and Joe, and three grandchildren. Senator Franken graduated from Harvard College.

To trace the story of the iPhone, Merchant traveled to every inhabited continent, from the Bolivian highlands to the city of Shenzhen, using “the one device” to document the effort. He took 8,000 photos, recorded 200 hours of interviews, tapped out hundreds of Notes, and had dozens of FaceTime sessions with his family back home. He went through three different iPhones: an iPhone 6, whose screen was broken and repaired three times, a black-market 4S that he bought in China but which was stolen in Chile, and an iPhone 7 he snapped up on its launch day.
Claire L. Evans is an American singer, writer, and artist based in Los Angeles, California. She is the lead singer of the pop duo YACHT. Evans joined YACHT in 2008 after sharing a “mystical experience” with collaborator Jona Bechtolt, and has recorded three albums, See Mystery Lights, Shangri-La, and I Thought the Future Would Be Cooler with Bechtolt. She also appeared as a guest on YACHT’s third album, I Believe in You. Your Magic Is Real. Known for her androgynous onstage persona as a performer, she has been called a “neo-Annie Lennox” by the New York Times.[1] NPR music journalist Bob Boilen has referred to her as “one of the most striking performers I’ve seen in a rock band.”
She is a member of the feminist collective Deep Lab. In addition, Evans is a science journalist, with a popular science and culture blog, Universe, hosted by National Geographic’s Scienceblogs network. She is the co-author of New Art/Science Affinities, a book about contemporary artists working at the intersection of science and technology. She is also the author of a collection of essays called High Frontiers, published by Publication Studio, a small press in Portland, Oregon. In August 2013, she became the editor-in-chief of OMNI Reboot, a new online version of the science magazine OMNI.[9] She is currently the Futures Editor of Motherboard, Vice (magazine)‘s technology and science website.
