A Fish Doesn’t Know It’s Wet is the second book authored by Pharrell Williams. This definitive volume documents the artistic evolution of one of the biggest superstars of American popular culture. Lavishly illustrated with 250 photographs and illustrations, this book features Pharrell Williams’s prolific and ever-expanding body of work in a graphic language all his own. Straddling art, design, and hip-hop, Pharrell’s creative output is without peer or precedent. By playing off different disciplines—music, fashion, and contemporary art—Pharrell has redefined the role of the contemporary artist, blazing a trail for other musicians and cultural figures.  It is a visual celebration of Pharrell’s career and is complemented by contributions from an elite group of artistic partners and cultural figures who include Taraji P. Henson, Karl Lagerfeld, Janelle Monáe, JR, KAWS, NIGO®, Octavia Spencer, and Oprah Winfrey, and appeals to anyone interested in in music, fashion, art, film and design.

Part biography and design monograph, A Fish Doesn’t Know It’s Wet follows his bestselling earlier book, Places and Spaces I’ve Seen (also from Rizzoli) chronicling the continuing adventures in art and design of one of the most influential figures in contemporary music and popular culture. Ranging from his fashion collaborations with NIGO® for Billionaire Boys Club, to artistic collaborations with Daniel Arsham, Alex Katz, and Damien Hirst, this book is an inspiring look at a creative life lived with no perceptible boundaries. Sarah Andelman was the founder and creative director of Colette, a chic Parisian concept store (1997—2017). Actress Taraji P. Henson is also a singer, and author. Karl Lagerfeld is the creative director of Fendi and Chanel. Janelle Monáeis an American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, actress, and model, JR is the pseudonym of a French photographer and artist whose identity is unconfirmed. KAWS is an American artist and designer. NIGO® is a Japanese fashion designer, DJ, record producer and entrepreneur. He is best known as the creator of the urban clothing line A Bathing Ape (Bape). Octavia Spencer is an award-winning American actress and author. Oprah Winfrey is an American media star, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist, and Pedro Winter also known as Busy P, is a French DJ, music producer, record label owner, and artist manager
