Winchester was made Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2006. The collective project of 200 distinguished writers and scholars from Los Angeles and around the globe, The Los Angeles Review of Books is the first major book review to launch in the new century.  Daily reviews and essays, streaming video and audio, podcasts and interactive salons, aggregated book news and book talk from around the web, digests of the best of the literary blogs and interviews and roundtables with writers, critics, publishers will, over time, develop into the world’s most comprehensive database of literary discussion.  A nonprofit community service, The Los Angeles Review of Books is housed at UC Riverside’s College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, and has received seed funding from UCR, the Rosenthal Family Foundation and individual donors.  This endeavor is led by Tom Lutz, who recently was one of 100 Angelenos featured in the LA Weekly.
